Hermes is a lovely senior boy who came into our care after his owner went into an extended care facility. On Hermes' first vet visit a series of blood tests revealed that Hermes was in kidney failure, the cause of which is unknown. Further tests have shown increasing liver values (that's bad) but an ultrasound did not reveal a cause. We are still working to try to find the cause of Hermes' liver problems (to see if there is anything that we can do to fix them) but for now, he is on daily medication and supplements to treat him the best we can. He is beginning to gain weight and looks much better but we still have a ways to go toward sorting out what's going on with Hermes. His medications and supplements costs approx $80/month but it's his follow up vet visits and blood work that really adds up.
