Indy - Adoption Pending

Handsome Indy is a lovely boy who will make a fantastic addition to the right home. Once he gets to know you, Indy is a real love bug! He is cuddly, he loves to sit in laps, he's very playful, and he gives great head bonks. Indy hardly ever stops purring and he just wants to be with his people. He really enjoys playing with wand-type toys and is great at finding them, even when they've been put away 'out of his reach.' This guy is very chatty and loves to tell you all about his day while he's kneading up a storm.

Once Indy has had the chance to get used to new people he is very loving, but it takes him a while to adjust to new environments and new faces. He is quite anxious about any type of change and it takes him a while to come out of his shell when faced with something new. Indy can be a little hissy during these times and it takes a cat-savvy person adept at reading body language to make sure he's safe and comfortable.

Indy is not comfortable around other animals or children, so he needs to go to a home where he'll be an only child. He really loves to play and to cuddle, so someone who has lots of time to spend with him will be ideal. When Indy gets playing, he tends to get pretty hyper and easily gets over-stimulated. It's important that his new family can tell when it's time for Indy to take it down a notch. Once he's all played out, he loves to cuddle, but he has a strange quirk of chewing on fingers. If your fingers are near his mouth, Indy will grab them and try to chew on them.

Indy is 4 years old and was given a clean bill of health by the vet. The only thing he needs to work on is his waist line. Indy is very food motivated, which makes it easy to teach him new things, but his calorie intake does need to be monitored. He is an indoor-only cat so he needs to get his exercise from playing. Indy had a urinary blockage in the past so he is now on a special diet to prevent that from happening again. It is important that his new family keeps him on his current food.

Since it takes Indy a little bit of time to get used to any new environment our foster-to-adopt program is recommended for him. If you'd like to learn more about whether Indy might be a good fit for your home, please contact us and tell us about your family.
